Waterfield Clocks

The best location!!

To ensure correct operation and many years of hourly chimes, Waterfield Clocks recommends that you follow these 4 simple rules.

  • Clocks should not be sited where there are extreme changes in temperatures and atmospheric climates.
i.e. humidity in surrounding air .
  • Do not install directly in the front or the side of a radiator or heating supply.
  • Do not position in direct sunlight.
  • Do not place clock on a loose or ill fitting floor as this will transfer load onto mechanical unit when persons walk near it.

Caring for your English Oak Longcase Clock

The finish on your clock case is based on a wax polish. This gives a smooth and glossy finish and it is seen to be at its best on open grained timber such as Oak. It can also be used on Soft Woods such as Walnut. It seals the timber and is a repellent to wood boring insects. The secret of obtaining a good wax finish is to apply 1 part wax to 99 parts elbow grease.

All future polishing should only be carried out with such wax e.g. Birwax, Fuddles etc.

For fixtures and fittings, you should never use any household cleaners on brass fittings as this could lead to them tarnishing. Wipe with a dry non fluffy cloth.
